Home / Article / Poll Results: Here’s How People Feel About MoviePass
MoviePass is one of those companies that we’ve all got our eyes on… Mostly, because we want to figure out whether or not they’ll actually be able to make their business model work.
And right now, it’s not looking so good.
We told you last week that they’re raising the subscription price to $15 a month. And they’re capping the number of seats available for theater-goers hoping to catch big Blockbuster movies at a discounted price.
The idea of a movie-theater subscription service certainly sounds like a good one, and one that would have a potentially huge audience. But the problem is finding ways to make that business model profitable. When you’ve subsidizing the price of tickets for a sold-out theater to today’s biggest films… Well, it doesn’t pan out so well.
So we wanted to find out just how popular MoviePass was among our members, and whether or not their opinions of the company have changed as prices continue to fluctuate.
Here’s how you answered.
Turns out the vast majority of Survey Junkie members have never used MoviePass, at an incredible 70 percent.
Another 15 percent say they used to subscribe to the service, but canceled it. And yet another 10 percent plan to cancel now that it’s getting more expensive. Only 5 percent say they’ll keep their subscription.
How do you compare? Do you think MoviePass will stay in business by making an important pivot? Or do you think they’ll get washed away amongst the shore of other failed startups?
